About Sobbia
Some of the people I work with aren't new to self-reflection. They know their patterns, they can trace things back, and they're tired of it not being enough. Others are just starting to put words to what they're feeling. Wherever you are, you're in the right place.

My work grew out of something I kept noticing in the therapy room and beyond it: so many thoughtful, capable people doing everything "right," showing up, talking openly, trying to understand themselves, and still feeling stuck. I know that feeling well - of going round in circles, becoming more aware of your problems but moving no further forward.
I could see that understanding on its own isn't always enough. People don't come to therapy just to make sense of things. They want to feel different. They want to move on with their lives, not stay stuck in the same place.
That's what my practice is built on: not just understanding yourself, but coming back to yourself by reconnecting with the parts you've learned to live without. And finally, being able to live differently.
"Most people aren't broken. They're disconnected: from their bodies, their instincts, and the parts of themselves they've learned to silence."Sobbia Saleem
I'm Sobbia (pronounced "So-bee-ah"), and my work centres on how earlier experiences, particularly trauma and neglect, continue to shape how people feel and move through their lives.
People come to me with anxiety, low mood, or a nervous system that feels constantly on edge. Often, underneath that, there's a quieter sense that something isn't quite right: overthinking, reacting in ways you don't fully understand, or feeling stuck in patterns that won't shift no matter how hard you've tried.
I take the time to really understand you, not just what's happening on the surface, but how it feels to be you in it. I work in a way that allows space for complexity, where nothing needs to be simplified, explained away, or made to fit. This isn't only about talking things through. It's about feeling into who you are and what you might need.
Whatever your experience has been, know that you're not alone, and you don't need to come here with everything figured out for this work to begin. However you've arrived at this page, I'm glad it's brought you here.
My path here has been shaped by my own life experience, just as much as by training and clinical knowledge. As a geneticist working in research, I developed an early interest in how patterns form and persist, something that still shapes how I understand change today.
As a journalist, I've also lived and worked across very different countries and cultures, among people with very different beliefs about healing, family, and what a good life looks like. What's stayed with me most is how much is shared underneath all that difference: the same fears, the same longing to be understood.
Over time, I found myself wanting to be closer to the kind of change I was only ever observing, which is what led me to train as a therapist. My experiences have shaped how I sit with each person in front of me now: with real curiosity, and without assuming I already know what your experience means.
You should feel held here. But we're not sitting with things indefinitely. I'm paying attention to what's shifting, what's repeating, and where something is ready to move.
If something isn't shifting, we don't push harder. We slow down and get curious about what's in the way, because that's usually where the real work is.
Nothing needs to be simplified, softened, or made acceptable. We work with what's actually there, even if it's messy, unclear, or hard to put into words.
The nervous system doesn't lie. I take seriously what your body is saying, and help you learn to do the same.
You don't need to explain yourself perfectly or get it "right." We work it out as we go, including the parts that don't yet make sense.
The aim isn't for you to rely on therapy. It's for you to feel more steady, more connected, and more able to navigate things from within yourself.
My clinical practice is grounded in extensive training and ongoing professional development, so you receive steady, dependable support and care.
I am also committed to regular supervision, ensuring my practice stays current, ethical, and evidence-informed. You can read more about my professional training and qualifications below.
